反叛的山谷

37歲的葉胡（Céderic Herrou）經常開著小貨車運送自家生產的橄欖油、橄欖醬和雞蛋到鄰近的城鎮販售，這一年來，他的小貨車載非洲人的次數比運送橄欖油還多。「起初只是搭便車，送他們到車站後，漸漸地，我關心他們的故事。千里路程風波惡，他們的身體很虛弱疲憊，小孩都生病了，我就乾脆把他們帶回家了。」葉胡細說他的「違法」緣起。

隨著這樣的「客人」越來越多，葉胡的屋子終究不夠住了，他便在庭院裡搭起帳篷，最多的時候，家中住了58人，葉胡的朋友也接待許多非洲過客。山區附近，有棟法國鐵路局很久沒使用的夏令營房舍，葉胡和他的朋友便去撬開門鎖，讓200多個非洲過客有個遮風避雨的地方暫歇，然而持續沒幾天，當地幾個右派的民代便去報案，法國鐵路局則立刻偕同警方前來驅逐，鐵路局還告葉胡等人擅闖、破壞公物。

葉胡因此成了憲警單位的常客，山區居民則組成「若亞公民協會」來支援葉胡，協會的總部就設在美麗的山城沙鷗集，也引來了更多的居民投入接待非洲人的行列。

大批的軍警、關防編制用來遏阻從義大利來的「闖入者」，卻有人寧可觸犯法律也要收留接待「闖入者」。葉胡並沒有因被求刑而停止他的「違法行為」，他得到了更多人的支持，他仍繼續接待非洲難民，提供他們食宿，不少人在恢復體力後重新整裝出發，也有人暫時留下來調養，清潔、打掃、煮飯、餵雞，過著自助人助的團體生活。

若亞公民協會靠山區居民的互助力量抵擋執法者的權威，對他們來說，這樣的法律不符合人道正義，因此，即使觸犯法律禁令也要發揮人道精神。當大批全副武裝的軍警帶著軍犬前來搜索時，他們也不抵抗，帶上手銬跟著被抓的非洲人一起上警車被拘押偵訊。

若亞山區居民的行動引起廣泛的關注，2016年底，當地媒體《尼斯早報》在網路票選年度人物時，賣橄欖油和雞蛋的葉胡被讀者票選為年度風雲人物第一名。這個票選結果令尼斯地區的政要們非常惱怒，該省右派省議會主席切歐提立刻在《尼斯早報》為文批判，譴責葉胡等人的行徑是違法亂紀、危害社會安全，而且嚴重羞辱執法人員，顯然是有組織的行動，要求司法單位儘快判決將他繩之以法。

在尼斯法院前，葉胡說：「如果我不行動的話，我就成了『他們』的共謀。」即使面臨審判，葉胡仍將人道救援化為「政治行動」，邀請人們思考法律是否等於正義？當法律與道德之間必須做一選擇時，你會怎麼做？尼斯法院的檢察官坦言，審判葉胡的案子已經超出了司法範圍，應可算是個政治法庭。

Kristeva - Theory of Abjection

One of the themes of “Citizen of Glass” is a caution that true empathy is not about the full transparency of social media by which every aspect of our lives is shared with the world. Rather, it is about allowing ourselves to have our own private space to understand and explore our feelings, helping others do the same, and then sharing our feelings with each other when we are ready. 

Empathy can be defined as the ability to perceive and understand the feelings of others.  Empathy is considered a critical aspect of interpersonal relationships, including doctor-patient and couples relationships, because understanding the feelings of another can help us engage in compassionate, pro-social behavior that is helpful to another person.
